How Will You Respond?

I love watching birds flock to my backyard feeders. A frequent visitor is the blue jay. Their unmistakable calls and colors make them easy to spot. However, I was surprised to learn that they are known as the backyard bullies. Their intimidating size and bullying nature gives cause to this nickname, but it’s still shocking to see how something so beautiful, can be so mean.

If there are other birds enjoying themselves at the feeders, instead of quietly waiting their turn, blue jays will just fly in, and force the other birds to flee.

People can be like that as well. They’ll swoop in and try to force you to do things you wouldn’t normally do.

If you let them.

There are different types of bullies and bullying. Physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Chances are someone or something will try to bully us in our lives. The question is, what should we do about it?

Scripture tell us to, “Submit yourselves therefore to God.
Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” – (James 4:7 KJV)

As Christians, the first part should already have been taken care of. And the second part of that verse gives us our answer.

Resist.

Stand against. Strive against. Actively interrupt the progression of the enemy. Endeavor to defeat.

We can’t control everything that life throws at us, but we can control how we respond.

Respond biblically.
